Danny Kanell thinks FSU should be ranked above LSU

FSU could absolutely win this matchup, but there’s a reason LSU is a 2.5 point favorite on a semi-neutral field.
FSU, a team that was more established in terms of coach, quarterback and overall roster having played that “tune-up game”, needed LSU to have a first-possession muffed punt and 4 points lost to blocked kicks to squeak by with a 1-point win.
Even with the aforementioned disadvantages, LSU wins last year’s game with a more-refined FG kicking operation. They win by 2 scores if Nabors catches that first punt clean and those 2 kicks are made–maybe 3 scores if Maason Smith plays the entire game.
Again, FSU very well may win week 1, but I’d wager good money that LSU finishes the season ranker higher for good reason.

Of course Kanell thinks FSU can win because they can. They return most of their starters from last season and did well like us in the portal.
The key match up is their WRs vs our DBs. FSU has very good WRs and added Keon Coleman who we recruited at one time. If our DBs can limit big plays LSU wins. I feel good about LSU in every other match up.

these two teams will be very different from last year. no need to play the "if" game from last year.
the only worthwhile news thus far this year looking up to this game...is that fsu may be playing without two of their top 4 DTs. unless those rumors are just that....

There's a reason I don't follow sports writers or talk heads during the off season. They have nothing useful to say, it's all opinions and frankly chatgpt can give you more informed opinions these days.
