UNC’s Best Receiver Transfer Waiver Denied By NCAA

Lucky for little Carolina. Can’t believe the NCAA would wait til this late in the process to deny immediate eligibity.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- North Carolina wide receiver Tez Walker's waiver for immediate eligibility has been denied, according to UNC head coach Mack Brown. The school is appealing the decision.
The junior Walker transferred to UNC after two seasons at Kent State, where he became a first-team All-MAC choice last season. He hauled in 58 catches for 921 yards and 11 touchdowns, tying for first in the league and seventh nationally in touchdown grabs. Walker checked in second in the MAC in receiving yards last season. He began his career at NC Central and transferred to Kent St. after the Eagles' 2020 season was canceled. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Walker, a Charlotte, N.C. native, was named first-team All-ACC in the conference's preseason poll released last week. He's also been named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List.

Did he already use his one free transfer before going to UNC?

Says he used it to go from NC Central to Kent St.

I didn't realize you lost it going up from FCS to FBS.
Since that's the case I don't see why they are surprised it got denied.

With what's going on in portal these days they at least ought to let him go back to Kent St to play.
Looks like NCAA is getting tough:
Florida State coach Mike Norvell said the NCAA has denied a hardship waiver request that would have allowed Seminoles defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. to play this season.
Jackson began his college career at Maryland in 2021 before using his one-time transfer to go to Miami, where he started 11 games last season and had 27 tackles, 3 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
Jackson transferred to Florida State this past offseason to be closer to his mother, who has a medical condition. Jackson grew up in Havana, Fla., about 20 minutes outside the Florida State campus in Tallahassee.

These guys transferred before the one-time transfer rule was in place right?

I hate the 1 free transfer rule, but you should not lose it going from FCS to FBS, only FBS to FBS.

I think what frickedd Jackson was a couple months ago FSU DT Joshua Farmer (Jackson’s friend and former HS teammate) was looking at transferring from FSU, and Jackson started to flirt with returning to Miami. Farmer eventually removed himself from the portal and Jackson stayed, but I am sure that looked sketchy.

I'm assuming this receiver is still taking that rigorous classload at UNC, of course.

So other guys like Kedon Slovis get to play at their 3rd school in 3 years bc they got a degree already?
How does Arik Gilbert have immediate eligibility? He’s been in the transfer portal 4 times.

Also doesn't make sense you lose it if your team cancelled their season

What was the argument for immediate eligibility given that this is his 2nd transfer?

His first school also cancelled the season due to covid I would have left also

If that's why he left it's pretty fricking shitty of the NCAA to deny him.

He was at NC Central, who cancelled their 2020 season so he transferred to Kent State because of that

Glad to hear it. Everything that gets defined about the magic portal is just gravy. Moving twice a year is plenty. Now settle down and play football, or not.

Well more importantly you shouldn't lose it if you transfer because your school canceled the season.

oh no....
honest question, are you concerned that your best receiver is a MAC transfer?
now obviously I have to be careful asking that because our best receiver last year was a JMU transfer, but they don't always pan out that way.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying.
On a serious note, one of my friends (a white fraternity guy) majored in AFAM during the fake class era. It was well known that the entire department was a sham and he coasted.
