TLDR: get rid of the dog. It’s a liability. And what happens if it’s someone else’s kid and you get sued.
I don't know how the thread has gotten this long but what I quoted is really all there is to it. That said, I feel compelled to add my two cents.
I almost died when I was 4. I almost died because while I was playing in the backyard at my grandparents' (my defacto parents) with my dog, it snapped and grabbed me by my neck. My MawMaw said she knew something was wrong because things got dead quiet. She found me pale and blue. I still have the scar on my neck to this day, three decades later.
Dogs are animals. Animals don't play by human rules and when it comes to little kids, they can be deadly. This is just a fact.
If it were my daughter there would be zero hesitation - the dog has to go and I don't care how. I almost died because of a bad dog, there is no way in hell I would let that happen to my kid.

I know it sucks, but protect your little girl and cut bait on the dog.

There's more to this story than you're telling.
