This is being a bit obtuse. We’re not talking about someone who wasn’t “enthusiastic” enough or something, it’s one thing during a regular season NFL game, but this is international competition, while the country isn’t perfect, neither is any other country, maybe show at least a little appreciation for a country where you can get wealthy playing a game as an adult and save the domestic protest for the off season

What sort of protest has there been so far at this World Cup?

Have they kneeled before? Yes. And I can understand why that frustrates some people. I was solely responding to the post that talked about the way they sang against Vietnam as being disrespectful.

My understanding is that t they or most of the team didn’t sing at all and stood their arms at their side with looks of general disgust. Rapione has said she’d never sing the anthem again. While I support her right to do/say that, playing for the national team is a privilege not a right so maybe if the country is so irredeemably racist and homo/transphobic why is she representing it?

They didn't put their hands over their hearts, nor mouth the words to the anthem.

Very upsetting to those with a Poli-addled brain.
