LeBron's I Promise School – which teaches children from 1st to 8th grade – has recently been outed for poor performance in mathematics.
The Akron Beacon Journal reported this week: "This fall's class of eighth graders at the I Promise School hasn't had a single student pass the state's basic math test since the group was in the third grade."
During a school board meeting this week, a puzzled Akron Public Schools board member Valerie McKitrick asked, "Not one? In three years?"
Keith Liechty-Clifford, the district's director of school improvement, responded, "It is discouraging."
The Akron Beacon Journal added, "The state has also issued its first concern about the school: two of I Promise's biggest subgroups of students, black students and those with disabilities, are now testing in the bottom 5% in the state, landing the school on the Ohio Department of Education's list of those requiring targeted intervention."
School board President Derrick Hall said, "For me as a board member, I just think about all the resources that we're providing, and I just, I'm just disappointed that I don't think, it doesn't appear like we're seeing the kind of change that we would expect to see."

Total failure but not surprised for a liberal, progressive like LeBron.
Bet you the basketball team is good though.
Bet you the basketball team is good though.

So, throwing money and more money at education doesn't mean that it works eventually? Imagine that...

Perhaps someone who never graduated high school isn't the best person to be running schools.

The reality is it doesn't matter how good the school is. Kids spend 80% of their time awake in a calendar year with shitty parents who don't give a shite in a shitty house (if their lucky) on a shitty street in a shitty hood.
The best teachers in the world aren't overcoming that.

Lebron is dumb as a rock, probably not the best person to open a school.

I admit I am ignorant on how this school works, but I bet LeBron has 0% to do with "running it"

How many of them got past the first page of their math book?

Other than providing funding, I don't imagine Lebron has anything to do with running the school... I am sure he has ideas and thought all the education system needed was money and opportunity for these kids...
Unfortunately Leborn won't touch the real problem with these kids and why throwing money at education is NOT the answer to the problems...

Forget basketball... I bet the dramatic acting classes are amazing.

If he's not involved that's his fault it's his school

when my daughter was in school i paid attention to the scores.
California reported black latino and white scores.
only 4% of blacks and 4% of latinos scored up at the excellent tier.
around that time someone had a book out that claimed the avg iq of black Americans was 84. and Jews and Asians were 112 avg.
would explain a lot.
lebron needs to reevaluate the way math is taught.
i taught low iq blacks for a while. my group had self esteem issues. they all learned the material.

How are they moving up in grades without passing math?
