24.

Her sister is turning 21, so I guess that's supposed to make it a big deal.

She won't even remember that you weren't there.

Her sister has been sucking shots and slurping cox for a long time. Her birthday don’t mean nothing.
Date your girlfriend’s sister instead. Or both. It don’t matter. You got her, you can get another just like her.

Girlfriend is 24. Sister is turning 21. I assume you’re mid-20’s.

I’d be tempted to go just for the scenery of a bunch of 21 year olds celebrating a birthday, and the interest you will receive from being the serious boyfriend of the older sister, plus you make the girlfriend happy. There’s no downside.

However, a lifelong friend owns his own house. He’s in a bit of a jam time wise with selling it, and needs your help. That should take priority.

I would normally side with the friend, but the transition into adulthood requires abandoning old habits. If he has the means to own and sell a home, then that is his responsibility. He can’t expect his old friends to waste a weekend helping him.

Attend the birthday party because you committed to that first, and it sounds a lot more fun than moving. I suggest your friend hire movers, and you offer to pitch in to help cover the cost since you can’t be there to help him.

How old is she?

24.

If you're at the age you're still slinging 24 year olds, you'll find one that's more reasonable.

There is a decent chance that the GF is now going to go tube steak hunting with the 21 year old while you are humping a dresser drawer up steps.

Just break up now.
