Obviously I didn't see him play. I'm simply saying the guy wasn't considered one of the best QB's in the country any year he played college but we're saying he's the 8th best player in school history?
Bert Jones was a consensus AA and finished 4th in the Heisman but is way lower. That makes no sense to me. I still think he gets bumped on this list more because of his pro accomplishments.

For the younger fans on this site, it can’t be overstated how much the game has changed. Today’s game is very exciting, and every player mentioned so far was a great player, but the change for 1958 to today is profound. It used to be a test of strength and endurance. It still is today, but back then the same eleven players, would stay on the field for the entire game. My first real memories started in the mid to late sixties. I remember the first team I played on ran the single wing offense. There was the “T” and then the wishbone. I have been so blessed to witness, the evolution of the game. So it is true that players may not have possessed certain skills in one era or another, but they were big time in the era they played in
