He was Pardon My Take this morning and throws a jab at Drew not being a team player and wouldn’t take a deal to help the team win. Asking them if they knew his backstory.

Wonder if there is more to the story. Sounds on par for the virtue signaler.

I thought he did take a friendlier deal on his last contract after his big deal before that.

Also, Matt Flynn talked about this on OTB the other day when they asked about Burrow taking a friendly deal. Flynn stated that its frowned upon by the players in the league due to guys like Brees and Burrow setting the market for the future guys and if they take friendly deals it screws over other qbs coming up on their deals. Fans like it but its not good business from a player perspective. Shady knows this but he's likely low on money so hes making wild claims to get headlines and more interviews.

Exactly. The only time Drew took a deal that reset the market was in 2012. Each year after that he was taking discounts. Shady is FOS.

It drives me even more mad because he is trying to credit Rodgers as more of a team player than Brees.

I highly recommend going and finding the SI article on Rodgers from a few years ago. He’s one of the worst teammates that I’ve watched play. They talked to a ton of ex teammates who told some wild stories.

One game he actually told a player on another team that they should trade for Greg Jennings while Greg Jennings was standing right there. And this wasn’t a joking situation.

Shady is a Retard

The whole " Be a Team player" thing is BS when it comes to salary.

Want to blame someone, blame the Billionaire owners and NFLPA for the Salary Cap.

If you're worth $40M and only take $30M, you're insane.

You think any legit business owners (Like NFL Team Owners) are giving $10M away for anything??

There are situations where I understand taking team friendly deals. That being said, is anybody on here willing to take less money so they can hire one more coworker? Hell no we all want to be paid what our value is. People are being hypocrites when they trash players for not taking pay cuts.

Wouldn't say he was taking discounts, but he was not trying to reset the market each time. As another pointed out, he really could not take a team friendly deal because of his position within the union

I believe it. Frick Drew Brees. He screwed this team long enough.

Its such a weak statement.

So if Drew takes less money, does the no call still happen? Yea probably.

If Drew takes less money...does Gregg Williams make a better playcall to win vs SF?

If Drew takes less money, does the Minnesota miracle still happen?

We had numerous shots and none can really be pinpointed to what McCoy is saying

Anytime I hear Brees and Rodgers names in the same sentence it brings me back to the 2011 NFL Players lockouts and how Brees organized and paid out of pocket (mainly for rookies who could not afford it) for organized team workouts he was also behind coordinating the logistics and arrangements. Brees started it out and many other teams leaders followed suit. When the press in Green Bay asked Aaron Rodgers why he wasn't doing the same he dodged the interviewers but his reply when eventually cornered by the press was it was unnecessary and he wasn't interested in doing it. He also made some remarks kind of mocking Brees and others for their efforts. People can possibly condemn Brees for some of his past decisions but they can never condemn him for not putting 100% effort into this team and his own preparation. Aaron Rodgers is a f...ing narcissist and nothing will ever change that.

smooth brains in here talking out of pure ignorance on brees and ignoring the facts that drew took below market deals towards the end of his career and restructured his deal to be the vet min when he retired.

GFY drew brees is the greatest saint in history and we should've paid him whatever he wanted and more

“he should take a pay cut so theh can afford the insane deal I want“

pay your QBs if they’re worth being paid. drew was worth being paid.

in 2-3 years the market will make it look like you’ve got a deal and the cap will go up.

Brees outplayed his first Saints deal by double at least.

Both sides took a risk and the Saints won out big time and Brees played it out without complaint.

I don't blame him for not wanting to play at discount on the back end.
