I just started watching baseball again two years ago and haven’t been educating myself on all the team’s coaches.

He should be fine. There is a comfort zone with CJJ. A great program has coaching turnover from upward moves.
Jay’s last two pitching coaches are now HC’s at Washington and Georgia. Just another of the many signs that CJJ is doing things right.

Was on the forefront of the driveline/pitching lab revolution.
Excellent track record of developing LHP.
Single handedly turned Matthew Boyd from a relief college arm to MLB opening day starter.
good article on Boyd development under CNY

The rant will hate him by March
Besides that he is thought of as one of the premier college pitching coaches and should do great things at LSU and I believe he will actually stick around for a few years.

Maybe but I am not convinced he wants to be a head coach. He has been a great pitching coach at multiple power 5 schools for over a decade. If he wanted to be a head coach I feel like the opportunities to be one have been presented. Maybe the right place hasn’t asked and he is still in his 40’s.
The last two guys Jay hired you kind of knew they were going to take a head coaching job if offered. Yeskie I’m not sure about.

All SEC schools sans Mizzou, and maybe KY will get you there, about 6-7 PAC schools. And a handful of other schools in the ACC. So maybe 30 programs if you really want to win. And there just arent many of those coming open yearly.

And I don’t see any of them coming open any time soon. Maybe Mississippi State.

I would think Arizona is going to take a hard look at Hale and UCLA has been sliding a bit. At LSU the UCLA coach would be getting heat, but I doubt UCLA remembers it has a baseball program some days.
