After today, quick glance at points, this looks like how it shakes out:

Quick look at the standings, auto bids after this week

Scheffler
Clark
Harman
Kopeka
Xander
Homa

Next 8 in contention, you take 6

Cantlay
Bradley
Spieth
Morikowa
Young
Burns
Fowler
JT

I would leave off JT and Morikowa, but I think Morikowa is safe and it will be JT and Burns left off

Will be interesting to watch

JT will be on the team unless he tells Zach Johnson not to pick him. He's our Ian Poulter. He has the best record of any American in this event in recent history.

Of the potential captain's picks listed, I think Cantlay, JT, Morikawa, Spieth, and Fowler are in. The last spot comes down to Young, Burns, or Bradley. I think Zach picks Young after his Open performance this week.

Just say no to JT.

I’d take Cameron Young for sure

Is JT hurt? That may be the tell tale. Lot's of rumors about that.

Torn on Young at this point. Dude needs to prove he can close if he's up against the rest of the guys on that list.

Which guys on the list are proven “closers”? Does winning a Tour event make you one? Serious question.

Everyone loves a guy that can't putt in match play.

Dude finished 12th on the team in the Presidents cup last year. Besting the mighty JT Poston, Tom Hoge and Kisner.

I'd say certainly more so than not winning one.

Did anyone else watch him putt this weekend?

Harman's going to kill it in Rome. He's a dog.

Taking out the "I'm not a fan of this guy so I wouldn't pick him" way of looking at it, I'd for sure leave off JT and then probably Young.

Wouldn't surprise me if he kept JT in place of Burns or Young.

I think he’s a colossal prick, but you can’t leave Patrick Reed off. When it comes to match play he’s a guy you want.

Remember in match play you’re playing the man, not the course.

If I’m captain him and JT are my top 2 picks. Young, Bradley, Spieth and Fowler are the other 4

He definitely would be a better asset than some of the guys who will be on the team. But there's no way he gets picked.

This is a downfall of leaving for LIV. DJ and Reed would be good for the team but not picking up OWGR makes it easy for them to pass you up.

Cantlay and Xander are so f’n money. I can’t wait. My favorite golf event. Last time on that Sunday morning I was excited as I’d be at a football game

Like who?

Reed wasn’t on the 2021 team, and that was pre-liv, and the US dominated ….And his form isn’t any better since then. Also, the 2018 Ryder cup, he went 1-2

So no, even if liv didn’t exist, would Reed have a spot on the team

frick Preed. He doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near a Ryder Cup team.
