From UPS website:

quote:

Our union-represented part-time employees make on average $20 an hour after 30 days, are guaranteed annual wage increases and cost of living adjustments, and receive pension benefits.

In what world is that not a livable wage for a part-time worker? LOL @ all the fast food idiots crying for $15. They should just go to UPS.

They're lying about that. Someone posted a screenshot of the starting wage in the contract and it's $15.50hr. Doing work at UPS is a little bit different than fast food, lol. Loading 4-5 trailers a day is no easy task, especially in the summer.

Holy crap. It should be a starting point for a person looking to get their foot in the door. If they put forth any effort they will move up.

If you are trying to raise a family on flipping burgers or taking orders at McDonald's then you are an idiot. But don't worry Uncle Sam is here to help.

The wages are arse for part timers compared to what they were 40+ years ago. The wage in 1982 at UPS was $8hr which is a little over $25hr today. Before 1982, drivers and part timers made the same pay at $12-$13hr which is over $37hr today.

They haven't really said what they're pushing for on part timers, but I can't blame the union for trying to make things like they once were before. UPS is a much larger and profitable company today. I saw something the other day that UPS is refusing to release their quarterly earnings. That's some shady stuff.

Are you alleging UPS is violating SEC rules?

They have moved it back twice and after the contract expires to August 8th. Yeah, something doesn't sound right.

There are at least 3 other shipping alternatives available.

They arent capable of absorbing all of UPS workload, and at what cost to them. Either way shipping will skyrocket.

According to google, they deliver over 24 million packages a day. Yeah, there's no way FedEx nor the USPS will be able to handle all that volume. I feel for those workers at FedEx and USPS if this strike happens cause they are going to be slammed.

Hell this might even actually help the USPS make money.

This is unlikely. The amount of overtime that would have to be paid out will be excessive and won’t be covered by any additional revenue.

I start my unskilled labor at $15 in Houston. And they are not eligible for a raise until at least 6 months. And there is no guarantee then. But most who make it that far are worth it.

So starting at $15.50 and getting a raise after 30 days, along with healthcare is pretty good in my neck of the woods.

Or maybe UPS is adding the health benefits into the equation. Some places do that. Again still not bad all things considered.

I’ve spoken with quite a few employees, and they believe it’s going to happen.

I guess order all your essential shitE in bulk before it’s too late…

I remember the last strike: it took I don’t know how many months for my packages ordered prior to the strike to arrive!

Labor Union is just a kinder term to use than Corrupt Hiring Agency Corporation that Hires for Corrupt Corporations and Governments.

Unfortunately, I am part of one as I am forced as my trade is almost all union.

Biden is for his Corrupt Government, and those who do business with it. Not the people who for some reason continue to support the Unions.

The healthcare is some of the best in the biz. As far as strictly wages go tho, I think for the work they do, they're underpaid. It's a very physically intense job loading trailers, etc. They have a lot of turn over from what I understand.

I think what the new union guy is trying to do is get things back to what they once were where part timers had a good/higher'ish wage and good healthcare. It also didn't help UPS going around talking about record profits and such. The union was going to be on that like crazy.
