I’ve never been but you can always see what tables are going on bravopokerlive.com
Like now it looks like 5 1-3 NL holdem and 1 4-8 limit holdem tables are going

That's not all he has in his shed.

The Horseshoe is the better game. It’s a No Max 1-3 game and on the weekends it can play like a big 2-5 or even 5-10 game depending on the lineup.

I haven't been in years but last time I went to Nugget it was OMC. All the 1-2 limit players who used to play at the Isle daily were the primary players at the 1-3 tables. Nit fest and small pots.

Good to know it's splashy again somewhere.
I see they have PLO game going. I guess the old Lauberge crew is there now.

Sounds like Biloxi. Mostly regulars taking up the seats except on big weekends.

My buddy is a pro and says the private clubs in Houston and Dallas are where the money is

Define private? Are they underground games or legal card rooms that charge a membership plus an hourly rate?
The membership rooms are getting major action these days in DFW, Austin, and Houston.

Likely this is what he meant.
The private rooms killed the poker scene in LC right as I was getting out of it. All the big TX money stopped coming in as large of numbers

Old crew?

These card rooms are so superior to any of the underground stuff. Safe, professionally ran, great action, just all around better. Don't have to worry about getting raided or held up and don't have to worry about casino trash.

no reason to drive 2.5 hrs both ways when you can stay in town. Even the poker rooms in OK took a hit from Dallas.

held up
There's been some robberies in the parking lot in Houston. Even one got shot up last year. Just because it's a legalized card room doesn't mean it's safe. It may be safer than underground game. But when you have a lot of cash flying around, it encourages criminal behaviors.

Yeah, you can't protect from everything. I meant more that the place itself wasn't held up like an underground place I used to play at got held up before. The o e I play at now has security both inside and outside. It is well lit so the chances of something bad happening are reduced.

When I first moved to DFW I would make an 1.5 hr trip to Winstar which sucked especially if it was a bad night. Long ride home.
Then I started meeting people and found local games, now I just hit a card room that is only about 15 mins away. No smoke filled casino to walk through and no rake on the pot is nice. Still fees to play but it isn't that bad.
