Just back from seeing it. Really dug it. Good story and felt faithful to the Japanese post-WW2 monster tradition. Made you care about the characters facing a mysterious monster with a simple, timeless story. Jaws-esque.
If you are a fan of the early Godzilla films it should be right up your alley. See it in a theatre if you can.
Well done.

Holy frick! Just got out of it. Movie of the fricking year. Puts the monster verse Godzilla movies to shame. True to the original intent of Godzilla. Just carnage and destruction, hopelessness and desperation. The way they portrayed the scale of Godzilla. True 10/10 in my opinion.

Just saw it. Just a great sorta old fashioned movie with heart and characters that made you care about them. Not going to lie the end got me a little choked up.
So Marvel this is how you do movies instead of the over produced, over cgi, and trying too hard to inject humor into every scene. Get back to making character driven movies with a more serious bent.

It got me a bit too. Very well done.
Like the callback to the 1954 original… iykyk
(Though I’m not sold on the 4DX experience. Just Gimmie a damn movie! )

Wife and I saw it today as well.
Definitely brought make memories of the Americanized version with Raymond Burr (i have not seen the original Japanese version). At times I could catch the throw-back vibe in the music and sometimes even the motion of Godzilla.
We both really liked it. Definitely more organic feeling than the other current run of movies...
The personal stories and references to WWII were good as well....

My brother and I went tonight and thought it was awesome. Godzilla was scary and the music was great when it hit.

I liked the call backs to not only 1954 original, but Shin Godzilla as well. Nothing terribly overt, but if you've seen it, you'll know.

Just got our tickets for tomorrow. My wife doesn't know it yet...
I consider it payback for "Honey the tree is crooked" and "Honey, the colored lights on the bushes out front aren't even" and "Honey, the lighted snowballs in the Japanese Maple aren't uneven enough and look funny."
I hope Atmos MXT is worth the extra buck or whatever.

watched it tonight. im a fan boy of the big G, ever since a tiny kid.
i liked the newer monsterverse stuff just fine, but this is the modern godzilla ive been craving. This is just a great movie all around.
hollywood should be shamed that this movie craps on their hundred million dollar budgets.

Godzilla 1985 has always been my favorite. Nostalgia from my childhood.
