So what? There have already been 10 films in the X-Men franchise (if you don't count the Deadpool and New Mutants movies - that would make 13) and three Fantastic Four movies (two of them connected, another a reboot).
These properties are all played out and general audiences are growing tired of the characters. Superhero fatigue is most definitely real.

All genres are struggling, not just superhero films. And Guardians shows audiences will still come out for a good one. You're also underestimating the popularity of the Xmen.

There's been 8 Spiderman and 8 Batman movies and people aren't tired of those. X-Men has a bunch of characters you can mix and match to keep things fresh. There's plenty of things Marvel can do to differentiate themselves from Fox's X-Men movies to bring audiences back.
