This guy has been hanging around the house and diving at the crows. About the size of a kite or a kestrel. Cruises around like a predatory type bird. Always perches on the highest limb in the yard. Appears to be black and white, but has a black head - unlike the kites I’ve seen.

And yes, the photo was taken with a potato.

Already ruled out velociraptor.

Bruh, kites are almost twice the size of kestrel.



Hard to say from that photo, but it looks like a kite. I've seen kites mess with crows, but don't really see hawks messing with them much--normally it's the other way around.

My best guess from the photo is Mississippi Kite. But that's just an impression. The dark head - maybe a late juvenile bird. Or just the head is shadowed.

Mississippi Kite. They've migrated in and are pretty active right now. Can be quite acrobatic in flight when hunting.
