Whatever you do, please follow the advice on this thread closely. My wife will be watching this story on some crime show in a few years and I will catch up.
But seriously, every town has a noise ordinance. Call you local councilman and report the behavior, they will put the pressure on the police needed to get them to do something. It should be over in a week.

That sucks OP. You have a much more reasonable temperament than me. I wouldn't be able to put up with that for more than a night or two without going ape-shite on this dude. I suppose I would just call the cops every night until they do something about it. Dude needs to just get some nice headphones.

Yea, don't care about any of it anymore. I told him this morning that they would be at his house every time I hear it from my bedroom.
Everyone in the immediate area has called the cops on him for one thing or another. He's typically drunk and asking everyone for rides or just being a pester. I've talked to a few of them and they say they do everything to avoid him now.
His speaker set up is on my side of the house so the neighbor on the other side probably doesn't hear it. I just don't know how the girlfriend lives like that. She is also in her 50's-60's and goes to work every day. There is no way she's getting sleep unless it's heavily medicated.

This is a sign that OP simply bought into a shitty neighborhood. What he paid for is a lesson in Real Estate 101: location, location, location.
In a neighborhood like that, taking care of personal nuisance issues will be like swatting flies. There will always be another.
After 3 years of learning he bought into a shitty neighborhood, the best thing OP can do is try to increase his property value, sell, take his lessons learned and make better choices in the future.

Why not buy him some AirPods Pro and a free one month subscription to Apple Music? The sound quality alone is superior to his expensive stereo system. And you now have taken the high road and not resorted to criminalistic activity.

Next time he blasts his shite, call the cops and tell them you've had to call the police on him before and that they need to come back because when you asked him again to turn it down, he said no and you saw a gun. Problem solved.
