I picked up a couple, but I’ve never played. Can you hit with them as hard as you want…or will the carbon surface get damaged?

They’re really cool feeling just toying with around the house. Just wondering how long they last and how durable they are.

I got orange and white Diadem paddles, edge carbon…something like that.

Looks like my Mom could have put a couple good arse whippings on me with one of them.

ETA: It would also make a good carpenter bee whacker.

Hit what as hard as you want? The ball?
Sure.

Just remember the court is small so unless it’s a ball that’s up you’re likely hitting it out of play.

My first paddle is 2 years old and works fine still.

Why would you think a racquet or paddle would be made to not hit a ball however you want?

That being said, Pickleball is less of a power game and is more about precision.

Most pickleball players don’t live long enough to wear one out.

I don’t want to let my 17 yr old borrow our rackets if they’re brittle. Maybe I should get a couple of cheaper ones.

Yeah don’t let others use your good paddles. Get a cheaper set for them.

Thanks…that was my question. That carbon surface looks a bit fragile. Cool though, can’t wait to hit.

Former 4.0-4.5 tennis league player here. I’ve been very resistant to pickleball but conceded due to overhead serving shoulder issues as I age lol.

It’s actually pretty fun but not as skilled as tennis. The newer carbon paddles have a gritty surface that will eventually wear out depending on how much topspin you use.

I’ve seen too many people hit them on the ground or throw them out of anger to let someone use my expensive paddles. But like my old baseball gloves or tennis racquets, they’re mine and not a fan of letting others use them. Just like everything else they’ll have some wear and tear after a while.

They aren’t cheap.

Who cares? It’s pickle ball. Just hit the ball as hard as you want. It’s not rocket science.

Carbon has very durable physical properties in two loading planes, but often very poor in the third. Seems like you could puncture that easily…unlike a $200 tennis racket that you can restring, these look like a one time shot.

You pay $500 for jeans and handwash them twice a year. You can probably handle buying a new pickle bat.
