travel ball is just what rec ball used to be with an added travel component

high levels of travel ball is like if you only had the all star team from each league and only played with those.

again depends on what level you play at. i can tell you, if you want to play on a high level team in south louisiana......only about 8 from nola to LC...if that. even less in north & central LA

now AA teams...there are tons of those everywhere. thats what some of yall dont seem to understand...yall see these AA teams and think that is how they all are...thats not the case.

High level Majors select ball in Houston is like if you took the 2 best players from every all star team in a 200 mile radius and made a squad.

I'll say it differently, travel ball is like taking the top 1 or 2 kids from every all star team in the area and making a team.

It has gotten watered down, but that describes the B class teams.

In C class you typically have 4-5 legit kids, and 5 that should still be playing rec. That's the issue now days.

You are basically saying what I’m saying. If your kid is not on a Majors/high level travel team you may as well save the money if you have a good rec league like we do in the Lafayette/Youngsville area. My point was you can do rec/all-stars at 10-11 years old and your kid will be fine. Most of these kids, we have no idea where they will be once puberty hits, that’s when the future HS/college kids will show themselves, not at 10 year old travel ball.

I’m glad you are finally saying this.

The vast majority of travel ball in south LA is made up of young kid AA teams playing U-Trip. All of the problems and associated mocking come from this large majority.

For the very few teams of 12-16 year olds that play at a high level, no one makes fun of these teams. This teams are basically replacements for what used to be Babe Ruth all star teams, just a different style. But it’s still the best kids playing on weekends against the other best kids.

But that’s a small minority of what travel ball is, here, in 2023.
