My outside cat is acting drunk

I have a barn and keep few random cats around for snakes and mice. I have one that about year old and it just disappeared for few days which is unlike her. She randomly showed back up and walking funny while turning her head sideways and acting drunk. I’ve googled and it all like “take to the vet right away” but tbh I’m not willing to pay for a barn cat vet bill. We did have her fixed when she came of age but that’s about it. Any ideas? I checked for ticks and snake bite marks nothing showing of that.

You got any funky standing water anywhere? Legitimately could be drunk

Maybe drank a puddle of antifreeze

No antifreeze around, stay back in woods near a bayou. But it’s been like two days. Would be a hell of a bender if really just wasted.

Could be distemper/parvo or an intestinal obstruction. Likely needs to see a vet.

If you aren't going to take it to the vet, just shoot it and put it out of its misery. Do you think someone here is going to offer you a secret salve to wipe on it and make its problems go away?

Yea I was thinking rabies but they usually quit eating when they get it.
Don't get right in a day or two feed it some 22g lead.

They do more work than everyone's home pets. I would just bring it because it could be an easy fix like some simple meds.
Just letting it suffer isn't cool

It won’t suffer long. Spoke to a vet friend. She said to try to treat for an ear infection. Just left tractor supply with drops. We’ll see how it goes.

Ear mites will make them shake their head alot. Maybe looknfor ticks in the ear also.
Typically if a cat looks sick its about to die. They do a good job of hiding being sick.

Cats go off to die. We seldom find them. Sounds like ear mites and I'd be surprised if the drops don't fix the issue

This message was received too late and the cat has been taken to the train station.

Yea I was wondering what the latest was. Ear infection issue would clear up pretty quick with meds.

I had a cat that did that once and vet said it was picked up by an owl or hawk and dropped from a long way up. He worked on it for a few days, charged $600, sent cat home where it died.

Did it have wounds from the talons?
Maybe I just grew up in a old school setting but a cat is nothing more than a tool. A dog can be a friend and a tool.
