Am I the only person who has no idea what dropshipping is?

It has been in commerce for a very long time but just recently has it become an idea to bootstrap a "company" from the ground up.

Technically what the son is going to do is USE dropshippers not technically be a dropshipper but the current trend has twisted the meaning of the word.

In general, a person sells an item online and a separate company fulfills the order. You don't have to carry inventory and you don't have to deal with packing and shipping. So basically I sell you an widget and I pay the widget company for the widget and to ship it directly to you. It is a low investment business because you have very low overhead but market share is hard to come by now especially when selling Chinese garbage. There are plenty of quality products that get dropshipped by manufacturers but they don't just let anyone off the street sell their product.

So basically you’re just a retailer/useless middleman. Sounds like a dubious prospect, at best.
