When I searched Youtube, they threw this Otis Gibbs/ Kenny Vaughan story session about him. I watched it all the way through.
Pretty Great. Now I'm gonna listen to some of his music.

He was the real deal, not enough credit, you know, it's kind of OK though. The big riches would have changed him and we were lucky to get him exactly like he was.

Waylon would not have been as successful without Billy Joe’s songs- Honky Tonk Heroes and the aforementioned Black Rose, Ain’t no God in Mexico.

John Anderson can thank him for Old Chunk of Coal.

And Jerry Jeff for Old Five and Dimers.

If I Give My Soul

For whatever reason, I never got to see Billy Joe play live.

I do know he saw Hank Williams live. He also threatened to whip Waylon’s arse if he didn’t record his songs.

I saw him when he was older, and he was really good. When he performed, it was as if he is talking to you personally. He had that kind of effect when he was up there.

I was told that he was offered that final spot on The Highway Men, but he turned it down, so they chose Chris Christopherson instead.

Live at Smith's Old Bar is up there with the greats as far as live albums.

Shaver is a legend.

Mike Judge's Tales from the Tour Bus on Shaver are absolutely hilarious too.

Judge: Where did you shoot him, Mr. Shaver?
Billy Joe: Right between the mother and the fricker, your honor.
