Hidden gems in Arlington/Alexandria VA?

Staying with friends in this area. I'm sure we'll get into DC, but I'm looking for suggestions on the VA side of the Potomic.

That a very nice area. I recalling visit there and told myself “it would be nice to live here”. Then I looked up home prices and that was the end of that chapter.

Peter Chang has a few restaurants around the DC area including one in Arlington. If not familiar, he is kind of the king of Sichuan cuisine in the US.

Old Town Alexandria: Hotel Indigo, Cafe du Soleil breakfast, Fish Market Seafood (East Coast dishes), The Warehouse (bills itself as Cajun but not really). Art/craft The Torpedo Factory.
