Wishful thinking.
He would have to lose the players to be fired before the World Cup, and they will all be too afraid to piss him off because they know he might go air their dirty laundry “off the record” and blackball them, so he won’t lose them.
He’s a dishonest POS and US Soccer is a lame organization, but keep defending all of them.

They hired him to coach the World Cup again, because in their view, he did plenty good getting out of a weak-arse group, scoring three total goals, and getting embarrassed by a middling Dutch team.

I can’t believe y’all have talked yourselves back into defending him after that shitshow. “I would bet any amount of money he isn’t rehired”. Uh huh.

For what it’s worth I know someone who was at Qatar (like, in the team camp) and the opinion of those in said camp is that Berhalter went above and beyond, giving Gio multiple opportunities to fix his putrid behavior, then protecting Gio from the media, only to have it blow up in his face in an unfortunate way.
