Well we all value our time differently I guess. Personally if I'm looking at spending time and money on an old gas trimmer, I'd probably take a long hard look at a $200 Ego trimmer+battery+charger that I know I won't have to spend a second of time or a single dollar on maintenance for at least 3 years and probably much longer.

I don't know if OP has a postage stamp lot, or an estate, but for many of us electric weedeaters/mowers simply do not have enough power to do our yards. They have their place, but stop pushing them like they are the solution to everyone's problems.

I paid less than $20 for the replacement parts. I’m troubleshooting a problem. I would rather figure this out and learn a little about small engine repairs before I spend money. Money is tight for a lot of people right now.
