I saw Iron Shiek wrestle at Ft Sill 25 years ago. He was old then but still a showman. RIP

I met him when I was 9 years old. One of the nicest guys I ever met. Made me a fan for life. Much nicer than some of the baby faces.

Got paid $200k (almost $500k in 2023) by WCW to basically sit at home for 2 years.

East Park Recreation Center in Houma in 1981.
This was not long after the Iran Hostage Crisis.
He was not very popular that night. When he started waving the Iranian flag, I thought some locals were going to jump in the ring.
Rest in peace.

The best line about The Iron Sheik is when he was walking to the ring Bobby Herman said by the time he got there it would be Wrestlemania 38, it was Wrestlemania 17.
