It is the equivalent of the average American saving $200. Not even 1% of GDP!! Please get in touch with your reps and senator to stop this nonsense. The debt ceiling, like the Oscars, is just a game used annually to make us think others have accomplished something. Best Buds

Politics is the art of the possible. There was no deal that was going to stop the growth of the deficit. We pay too much in interest to reverse the present trend.
You want a better deal elect a stronger conservative majority in the House and get control of the Senate.
If the D's still controlled the house, there would have been zero cuts and much faster deficit growth.
