Handgun for truck?

Wanting to get a new handgun for my truck. Looking real hard into the Springfields XDM Elites. I really like the feel and weight of it. Any recs or suggestions?

I can’t speak for the XDM elite but I’m not a big fan of grip safeties.
I do like the S&W M&P 2.0 guns though. You can’t go wrong with a full size.
Whatever you do, if you plan to leave your gun in your truck… please invest in something secure enough to prevent a smash and grab. Lock’er down and console vault have some nice options.

Just bought a Taurus G3X for the truck. Full size grip with a sub-compact slide. Secured in console vault.

If you are carrying in your truck and it is for protection,in my opinion, you want a revolver. Preferably a .357 mag. Just my opinion.

Carry a G45 on a magnet mount that fits a Glock perfectly. I have never had it come out on its own.
I want as many rounds as possible in a gun away from my home. Revolver isn’t it.
I would carry an AR but moving it to the house every night would be a PIA.

I love revolvers but why do you say this?

I really like my XDM, but the backstrap on the grip is aggressive and starts to cut into my hands I shoot it all day. Supposedly it’s great if you wear gloves though.
As mentioned above, Canik is a good option for a reliable cheap in price truck gun.

Glock 26. Cheap enough, Small enough, reliable, shoots well, you can slip it in a CC holster with the 10 round mag if you want, or leave it in the truck with a 15 or 17 round mag. You can pop one of the very large mags in it if you wish.

Taurus G3 series fits the bill.
Full size.
Under $300
Shoots great. Feels good in hand.
This Taurus line has had great reviews. Check out the YouTube on them.
I'm looking at picking up a couple for the kids for when they get older. Local place will do 259 if I price the pair.
Can't beat it.

G3X is the hybrid version. Solid reviews by respected YouTube’er types. Bought mine from Academy with military discount. After rebate the price was $245. Not bad for a secondary truck piece.

Went the xdm elite in 10mm compact. Good value good shooting pistol and 11 in the stack.

I got a gift card to Lafayette Shooters for Christmas and did the same thing. The gun really feels good in my hand and was inexpensive. I had been keeping a S&W 357 in the truck for years and finally decided it was too expensive to risk getting it stolen.

I’ve had two Caniks and both were fantastic in every way. Love the smooth triggers. The SC ELITE is a good size, big enough to shoot well but small enough to even be carried concealed.

I've been considering buying the Canik TP9 Elite SC.
I toss a gun in my truck many times but I try not to leave one in there overnight. Too many door handle pullers in BR.

I based this decision on two of my friends advice. One is a retired state trooper the other is a retired game warden. They said if you don't carry a firearm on your side daily, you want a revolver.

I keep a Sig Sauer P320 Subcompact on me as an everyday option out of my handgun collection. Easy to store and fits nicely in my Swiss Army laptop bag. My wife doesn’t like it
There are some F-150 lock box options out there, relatively cheap, but yeah, I wouldn’t leave a handgun unattended or overnight in Baton Rouge. tPOS specifically target trucks because they know there’s a strong likelihood they’ll be a gun stored in the glove compartment or arm rest, center console.

I have a center console safe, otherwise no way would I leave a gun in my truck no matter where I am. Even nice neighborhoods have miserable door handle pullers nowadays.
The console safes are great. The one for my Tundra wasnt too much, maybe about $200, and easy to install. Just a couple bolts, no drilling required.

Just a phenomenal gun especially for the price. Very comfortable to shoot, very accurate. I got one in brown that looks like this bc I like different colors other than the generic all-black:

I guess a revolver a little safer for someone who doesn’t carry or handle their gun often. But this is for the truck, not to carry, right?
I’m not arguing bc I love revolvers and often carry a snubnose,
