$D Dominion Energy

Anyone have any insight why this keeps falling? I’ve owned it 10+ years having always used DRIP and buying on any serious dips in price share. I’ve bought more of it over the last two months on some dips thinking it was just broader market pressure driving a good stock down but now I wonder. Usually D and ED trade on the same curves but recently they’ve gone in different directions.
Any insights?

It's definitely been underperforming its peers. Could be any number of reasons, and usually won't be obvious until the move is over. I gave up a long time ago on fundamental analysis.. I find pure price action works better for me.
That said, I do like the DRIP method on these stable 5%+ divvy companies for set-it-and-forget-it type of investments.

Could just be the electric energy sector in general, several companies are near their 52 week lows, most large energy companies borrow a lot of money and are affected by interest rates so the rising rates may be affecting the companies bottom line.
Also companies with coal burners in their fleets are taking a beating on closures and stranded cost, I’m not sure what Dominion’s generation fleet mix is but there’s probably several factors affecting them and their competitors.

You also have to think. There really is no room for market expansion for the electric energy sector. Maybe some new subdivisions and what not but that doesnt bring in money. Large commercial customers bring in money. Dominion is based in an area that really isnt seeing much development. Could be an issue.

Glad I got out at $82. Dividend plays like Dominion aren’t in demand as much given that you can get around 5% on idle cash.
