First time watching Entourage wtf happened to the last 2 seasons?

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series but holy crap what happened to the writing the last 2 seasons? It went from guys having fun to drug addiction, Ari going through a divorce, turtle becoming cringe, and E being an idiot. Then the last episode I watched had a guy commit suicide. Seems like the writers got away from what made this show awesome

but seriously, vinny could only do/not do the movie and e could date/not date sloan so many times. show went a couple seasons too long.
sloan taking e back so many times was retarded.

Speaking of Sloan. Is she the hottest girl on the show? I would say yes but dang Amanda is sexy as well

The last two are very terrible but the fall off starts right after the Cannes Medellin finale.

Vinny's coke bust was the jump the shark moment.
I guess they didn't want to make him too far gone to become disliked. A Hollywood star has a tiny little baggie and it's the end of the world? It came off like an after school special for this show that's supposed to be a realistic side of hollywood

The writers and creators were very reactionary to a lot of criticism the show was getting after the first few seasons. Dan Patrick famously went on his yearly show one day, and stated, as and avid fan, that the show had "jumped the shark" after the 3rd or 4th season.
That actually prompted the how's creator and head writer, Doug Lymann, to call into his radio show and say that they would change... And they did.
The site took on a far different tone after that and that's why the whole drug addict, Ari divorce, etc storylines place.
Looking back, yes, it was a bad move to abandon what made the show great, but it also was somehwat needed at the time , according to many critics.
Overall, the shoe's fatal flaw is that Adrain Grenier was the least interesting person on the whole show and he was nowhere near what a real movie star should be. The supporting cast was what truly made the show great. Once they got somewhat sidelined for bigger Vince stories, the show tumbled.
Californication suffered a similar fate, but stuck closer to the same vibe throughout its run.
If you want a similar type show, go binge that whole series. It's worth it.

If a show changes, people complain it jumped the shark
If a show doesn’t change, people complain it’s repetitive or stale

A chick took over as lead writer, and tried to turn it into Gossip Girl.
Women are horrible at writing men. They always write them as women.

HBO pulled a GoT before it was even a thing.

I loved this series so much back in the day but it doesn’t hold up well.
Did a rewatch about a year ago and it was bad. When they started making the story lines around E and Turtle it really took a nose dive. Sort of like when Shameless started focusing too much on the young girl and went all woke.
Johnny Drama is still the GOAT tho.

Shaved head Vince was the biggest beta of all time
Adrian Grenier was miscast, he didn’t have an ounce of the charisma they acted like he did

The whole Sasha Grey/Vince thing with Vince getting caught up in the drugs was a turning point. I know Charlie Sheen was pretty much the first big celeb to openly date a porn star(Ginger Lynn) so it had happened before but it was still hard to see it happening in this era.
