We just need a couple of guys with 2-3 pitches they can throw for strikes.

I am obviously joking but now I am curious: can a team add someone to their roster once the season starts?

If I was a pitcher on this team I’d be embarrassed to tell anyone. They are catching hell…. And rightfully so.

No you have to finalize your roster before the first game. Including naming who the scholarship players are and the walk Ons are.

Some club teams might have one or two players good enough to make a team like Southern or NW State but if they were worth a damn you can bet teams would have recruited them

I told a friend Sunday that I would be embarrassed running out of that bullpen.

I think that is part of the issue right now. As soon as one adverse event happens (walk or hit) the bullpen guys go "here we go again" and it snow balls.

Not that they are necessarily embarrassed as you put it but that they have a legitimate fear and worry that it will go wrong and that fear leads to poor performance which in turn supports and strengthens the fear for the next go around.

Look I wasn't suggesting that we were gonna find another Skenes on the club team but I don't think its ridiculous to think that there may be some junk ball pitcher with an 82 mph 2 seam fastball, 12-6 curve and a nasty changeup that could throw strikes and baffle SEC hitters because he is such a contrast to what they are used to seeing.

A Chris Cotton, if you will.

A lot of good ball players don’t get recruited by D1 schools because of limited scholarships in baseball. Specifically pitchers, if you aren’t throwing 92+ in high school, nobody is giving you a look.

Which is why a lot of good players come from Jr. College. LSUE or Delgado type places.

So when guys like Chad Jones and Spencer Ware were on the baseball team, were they designated those spots before the start of the season and then just took a break for football spring practice and then rejoined afterwards? It's been a while so I'm a little fuzzy on those details

They are on the roster at the beginning of the season.

The NCAA roster and the roster available for any given weekend are two different things. There is a limit for SEC series that can be active. So when those guys go to football LSU just leaves them off the active roster.

I believe even tho those guys are on football scholarships and don’t count towards the 11.7 baseball scholarship they do count towards the scholarship player limit. I may be wrong on this.

Before I opened the thread, I thought you were looking for PICTURES, but yes, we have a couple of guys that can throw mid-80s for strikes
