Assuming Skenes wins game 1 and you close it out with 1 or 2 of Herring/Guidry/Coleman what do you do for game 2? The rule is you always play to win right away and avoid the rubber game but is this team an exception? We've seen this team mash Sunday starters for super regional caliber teams all year but we know our Johnny Wholestaff approach can't buy an out in game 3. I don't necessarily hate the idea of pitching Money Dutton Little and Cooper in game 2 and if it goes to game 3 you have Floyd, Herring, Coleman, and Guidry. Obviously it'll depend on the caliber of game 3 pitcher our opponent has but am I crazy for this?

“that’s baseball” logic will tell you anything can happen in one game. Play to win game 2 and avoid the rubber match

Play to win game 2. Game 3 your only hope is your lineup can slug you to Omaha

I hate like hell to say it but I think it's unlikely that there will be a super regional.

I don't believe we have the pitching staff to make it out of a regional.

I hope I am wrong. I will be cheering them on.

I’d move Herring into my #3 starter role in general.

You don't even think about game 3 if you have a real chance in game 2. By any means necessary close it out. Coleman, Herring, Cooper, Guidry whoever you think can do it

Why don’t you just do this for game 2 and be done with it? The playing for tomorrow shite is getting old.

No Skenes in game one. Game two.
I’m not sure I would even pitch Floyd in game one, assuming we are playing the four seed.

I would take my chances with someone like Money and save Floyd for later.

ETA-
Correction. The above comment was meant for the first weekend, not the second.

Stupid suggestion. And no, this suggestion is never right even if we lose game 1 with Skenes. You do not give a team momentum by conceding the first game in a best out of 3. It's a dumb suggestion and it also shows how much of a pussy your coach is with confidence level. How do you think it makes the player's feel on confidence when your own coach shits on you?

They're setup better to win a super even against a good team over a regional where they're forced to play 3 games regardless.
