You have no idea what you're talking about. There are two main philosophies for dline play...get up the field or playing the heel line. Pete Jenkins disciplines play the heel line. They use two modes attack react for outside shades(1,3,5,9) and they use react attack for inside shades and head up.
Cain is the total opposite of the Pete Jenkins philosophy. He believes in getting up the field and tackle the rb on the way to the QB.

Pete didn't sound very complimentary of Jamar Cain and his DL Coaching.
Jenkins had to come in and teach Cain DL coaching techniques a la Jerry Sullivan with Mickey Joseph.
Why did BK hire him in the first place then?
Hopefully Lindsey will be a better fit and more "aligned" with Matt House and what he wants........

the attack "up field" is risky, the DL better not miss the tackle b'c the OL are blocking the LBs.. usually for 4 down lineman.
the heals is basically hold the line, protect the LB's and the LB's make the play by either blitz or reaction.. Its why you have a pass rusher in the NFL b/c hes it... its why you want to run a 3/4 it takes 4 to block 3 (NT is vital space eater) and you have the edge 1 on 1 vs the left tackle. Its all about creating an advantage with numbers. a 3/4 (aranda) is coveted because its multiple and its easy to swap to nickel.
The reason why Kellys offense is so interesting (and why saban hates it) is b/c of the two TEs. Its balanced, theres no strong or weak side. The defense doesnt know how to line up with two TE's and pistol RB. so now you have a 1 on 1 with an ATHLETIC QB in space... good luck... for years, people know that Saban hates scheming dual threat QBs... this is why.. numbers.. you have to be mobile enough to escape 1 rusher... All the more reason you need more and more athletic DL.. so they dont miss the tackle.

It’s also comes down to House being a spill guy and not really a box guy. DL getting upfield and being a spill defense don’t go together.
