Y’all getting excited for the Greece trip ? Did you book any excursions or anything ? We are looking at A sunset cruise for Santorini but planning to leave Naxos open.

Hey man, yeah we are getting excited. Been nailing down dinner reservations this week.

We booked a half day driving tour around Santorini for our first full day. Hoping to see most of the island and have the driver leave us in Oia for the afternoon/evening. We are styaing at an AirBnB in Firostefani.

We had a catamaran booked the second day, but decided to cancel. The water will still be a little cold for swimming, and we left open the possibility of hiring a boat at Ammoudi bay just for an hour or 2 to go around the island. We have sunset dinners booked each night

Naxos is wide open- we booked dinners for 2 nights and left the days open for the beach and visiting small towns. We are renting a car just for Naxos.

Finishing up in Athens- we have the Acropolis booked and a dinner on our last night at the Horizons restaurant on top of Lycabettus Hill.

The worst part is going to be the trip over there. It will be 23 hours from MSY to touchdown in Santorini. Long layovers in EWR and FRA, but we still felt the open-jaw was the way to go rather than backtrack on our departure from Greece.

How is your planning going? We arrive back home on May 29- will yall be on your way by then?

Sounds like y’all have it all figured out. We leave on June 1st. Flying Air France from Houston. I think it’s about 9.5 hrs to Paris and then 3-3.5ish from there. I’m a little nervous about only an 1.45 hr layover but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I should prob look into some dinner reservations myself. Also didn’t realize I needed a rez for Acropolis. Our first day we get into Athens we will have about a half day so wanting to check that out. We are doing the SeaJets ferries for getting between the islands. Open jaw flight is def the way to go but I couldn’t pass up the 700$pp round trip between Hou/ATH.

I’m counting the days man. I hope y’all have a blast.

Nice ! Pretty sure I recall you saying you’ve been to Italy before but have you been to the others ?

We did a trip to Italy a few years back (2019 I believe) for about 2 1/2 weeks. But that was strictly northern Italy (Emilia Romagna, alba, etc.)

This trip we’re going to be in Puglia and finish with a day or two in Rome. Been to Rome once in college but it was a very broke college student trip so I don’t really count it.

Never been to Greece or Albania - really looking forward to both of your reviews to get me amped up for the trip!

I guess I should clarify about the Acropolis- I bought my tickets online.

I did quite a bit of research about best way to beat the crowds. The gates open at 8 am, and the earliest guided tour I could find began at 8:30. So I bought my tickets online and plan on getting to the gates about 7:30 and going straight to the Parthenon to see it before its too crowded, and then hit the other areas afterwards.

Not sure if dinner rez's are as necessary in Naxos, but from what I understand Santorini and Athens can fill a week or so in advance, especially on summer weekends.

We are flying MSY-EWR-FRA-JTR going out. Land in Santorini at 16:50. We are doing a Worldchampion Jet to Naxos, then flying Olympic Air from Naxos to Athens. I had planned on taking a ferry to Athens, but the flight is 45 mins and less than 100 Euro pp. Our flights home are ATH-IAD-MSY

Awesome. I YouTubed a couple videos on those SeaJets and they look pretty nice. The Athens to Santorini ferry will be a long ride and we’re taking the crack of dawn early one. I made a typo earlier we’re actually leaving on June 1. (Not July ). For Santorini we’re staying in Imerovigli and in Naxos we’ll be in Agia Anna. I’ll prob grab a tour for the Acropolis as well through viator or something. I’m pretty pumped about renting an atv or mopeds to just buzz around Greek islands on.

Same.

We are doing Paros and Milos though as well.

I am struggling with restaurants though. I usually have places that stand out to me but nothing is popping in Greece that much to be honest, and almost all of the fancy places with good views, the food is more modern than I'm looking for and way WAY overpriced.

The only place in Santorini that I think is a lock is Metaxi Mas

We’re doing Athens, Paxos, and Corfu before Albania, then headed to Italy.

Heard great things on Corfu. Hadn’t really heard of anyone going to Paxos. Looks cool.

I think you're wise to leave Naxos open. It has a laid back vibe where you can just relax.

In Santorini, you might enjoy the Big Fat Greek Wedding dinner show. We thought it was super fun! We bought our tickets once we arrived one day prior to the show, but that was before Covid. I have no idea what the ticket situation is like now.

Have fun! Greece is amazing!
