I took diamox for a trip before. It definitely does what it claims to do. It does not miraculously make you a ridge blasting monster, but it does help you acclimate much faster.

I dont take it anymore because the side effects kinda suck. You'll have to piss every 30 minutes it seems like (which is why it works) and I had tingly fingers on it.

IMO its better to acclimate one night in a motel at 9k feet or so and be very hydrated.

Qualifications: I have nearly died from pulmonary and cerebral edema and hypothermia at about 9200 feet.
