Do you think guns are unregulated in this country?
They are regulated, but I would argue they are not well regulated when you look at violent crime stats where guns are involved.
And I’m not pointing to guns being the sole issue. The gun violence problem here is the convergence of multiple factors - poor crime enforcement/punishment, mental health, economic woes, easy access to guns, etc. All of those factors should be on the table for targeting when the debate comes up.

There’s a big difference between regulated and well regulated
Explain it.

Well, in my opinion, if guns were well regulated as opposed to ineffectively regulated as they are now, people wouldn’t be being murdered by the dozens almost everyday with them
Start with regulating their use as strictly we we do large vehicles maybe?
Yeah, they're so heavily regulated that no one could possibly kill 7 people with one. No one could speed or drive while drunk either.
You know murder is illegal too, right?
The truth is that, for people like you, no regulation besides the outright banning of guns will ever be enough.
Now, if you get your way, how do you plan on confiscating 400 million guns? Do you think criminals will turn theirs in? What happens when law abiding people comply and criminals don't?

So, criminals don't follow laws and regulations?

I have a serious question. With universal open carry, how quick would you be to draw on someone you see carrying a gun in a public place?
You see someone in public with a rifle and body armor, you better start preparing for stuff to go down. No serious person carries a rifle in public.

The regulations that currently exist are minimal and ineffective. I think repeated mass shooting, not to mention the run of the mill daily gun violence, are a pretty clear indication of that

You can just say you only want the government to have guns.

Ok, how would "well regulated" prevent gun crime?

Then let's focus on those factors first before we start turning non-criminal law abiding citizens into felons overnight.

I suggest slight tightening the requirements for owning a gun an you jump to confiscation of 400 million guns. Ok, point proven

Minimal?
There are thousands upon thousands of pages of federal and state code regulating firearms in this country.
What specific laws do you want to see enacted and tell us how that will prevent gun crime.

How?
What rules?
Who decides?
Why do you want to strip young women from the only thing that can protect them from a 200 pound abusive man trying to rape them?

And how will that stop gang bangers from shooting people in a place like Chicago?
What laws do you propose to "tighten gun ownership"?

Because they aren’t being enforced. More laws will just be more laws that aren’t being enforced or are enforced selectively.

You mean like making it illegal for criminals to have guns?

What law or regulation would stop a 18-21 year old with a clean record from walking into a store and buying a gun?
It’s very easy to play the vague “gun regulation” card with no specifics. The fact is that any attempt to chip away at the 2A has the intent to remove them completely.

The New Orleans judicial system is a perfect example. Anyone at NOPD will tell you that the problem is that judges don't enforce gun laws.
These people's solution is to enact more laws that judges will refuse to enforce.

There’s a very well proven process that takes place with laws and regulations. It is called Legal Creep you should look into it.
Laws eventually get used for all sorts of things that the writers never intended. (See the Patriot Act or the initial Civil Asset Forfeiture laws)
Hell, I’m old enough to remember when gays just wanted to get married, yet look at us now.
Point is, what you consider “slightly tighter” right now may be very different 15 years from now.

This is such a laughable response. Trained idiots. Can't logically debate anything. Just throw out a word salad and pat yourself on the back.

Apples and oranges.
Ironic this comment is made the day after another Democrat hero killed more innocent people with an SUV.
Again, I ask, how do we focus attention on the groups that commit the vast majority of gun crimes?
The word salad reply to this is one I have been waiting on any "moderate" or Progressive to respond. I need another laugh.
