Some will disagree, but Dinardo put us on the road to success. Things were bleak before he got here.

Did some decent things, but once his coordinator hires went to crap (Lou Tepper anyone) and he refused to hire Rich Rodriquez (one of the original spread architects) his gate was sealed.

He set some foundations in place that helped pave the road for sure and are still with the program today.
I have my own thoughts on the reasons for his demise but without getting in the weeds he did himself in.
The Gridiron Club he created was the best version of it, it's declined steadily with every coach since and is now a shell of what it was.
The Recruiting Bash was his brainchild and again, was the best version of itself under his leadership.
He pissed a lot of folks off to improve facilities, but it had to be done and he improved them greatly and again helped start a roadmap that was not there before on how to get it done and made the road easier for future coaches by knocking down those early barriers.
Again, he was his own worst enemy at the end, but he gave me some good memories and I'll always remember them.

Dinardo did a LOT of good things for LSU football. He did one bad thing for his career here, however: Lou Tepper.
What was he thinking?

I don't know if I would go so far as to say he put us on the road to success, but . . .

100% this. I will always hold Gerry DiNardo in high regard because I truly believe he (and Kevin Faulk, who he recruited) saved LSU football. LSU football was literally on the verge of falling into indefinite irrelevance before he got here. If he had been another Hallman or Archer and handed us four more straight losing seasons, we genuinely could be a Tulane-level program now (imo). Instead, he had a run of good (not quite great) years that sustained the program and reinvigorated the fan base significantly, such that when he did end up fall short we were in a position to attract a quality coach (who turned out to be pretty darn good).
