I'm not a fan of JetBlue

Thery changed both my flights around our trip to and from JFK for our flights to Italy on Emirates. On the leg to JFK they changed our seats. On the flight back they changed us to a flight that occurs while we are in the air coming back from Italy. I've been on the phone on hold for 45 minutes to cancel the return leg. This is my first and last experience with Jetblue.
Sorry for the rant (not really) but it is so frustrating to have flights bookended and set and now to have to spend an extra night at JFK and delay our arrival home by a day.

Why not take the refund and book with another airline?
One tip is to book one-way tickets from now on. If a major schedule change happens then you only have to adjust one half of the schedule
Also it's not the day to call JetBlue, JFK is having 4.5 hr inbound delays so there has to be a lot of misconnects and cancelled flights.

Already booked with Delta but I still have to overnight at JFK which I didn't have to do on the original itinerary. It's a points refund on Jetblue so that creates another hassle. Hopefully I can transfer the points to my sons bucket so I don't have to deal with them again.
Thank you for the tip and I think I'll hang up and call another day. Thank you also for what you do on this board. You are one valuable resource.

Sorry that happened. We've actually flow them twice this year with no problems. We commented that the bigger seats (vs. Delta) and feel of the "flying experience" reminded us of yester years.

No fan of Jet Blue either. My daughters were checking in at Jet Blues bag drop. They both walked up to the check in together. One was told to step back until first daughter checked in. When second daughter stepped up they told her she missed the deadline by one minute. No credit, no refund, no nothing. No us now either.

I’m strictly with delta now. Every other airline has let me down significantly.

Yeah, that's awesome on international flights. Ever spent $6k on a one way coach ticket? I was forced to. ETA: Due to work, not the situation quoted below.
When Lufthansa changed their schedule and put me on United metal from FRA to IAH instead of my original flight, they sent me an email. FIVE MONTHS BEFORE THE FLIGHT. No problem.
To do this stuff while a PAX is in flight, and doing knowing that there is literally no way for PAX to make the flight is total, and complete bullshite. It's one thing to pretend I can connect after clearing immigration in 60-70 minutes in the EU, but JetBlue is total garbage for this.
Since the itinerary included the EU (even though you were stuck in UKI), file for max compensation. United lost my luggage for three days, and when I said I needed a new suit to make a meeting, they ponied up over $600 within 48 hours. They know the EU will screw them.
I don't know why anyone connects in JFK or Heathrow. AA/BA can fly out of Charlotte, and if you have to connect twice, something is ... eh, not optimized with your scheduling.

Normally we wouldn't but we had an opportunity to fly Emirates which I've wanted to do for a while. Normally I'd just drive across Alligator Alley and fly out of the shithole that is MIA.

I'd be pissed too, but also why'd they cut it so close to the bag dropoff? I think it's 40 minutes everywhere besides some of the bigger airports being 45 min or an hour

I'm currently with her too so she must get around

This will happen to you on Delta as well at some point. I've gotten burned by AA, DL, and Jetblue but still went back to DL. It's an abusive relationship if I've ever seen one

This is the one exception for booking one-way tickets- DONT DO IT FOR INTERNATIONAL. For some reason, the airlines can get away with charging nearly double for single one-way tickets across the pond. Book a roundtrip and throw away the return ticket if needed.

Have you looked at flying out of TPA, SRQ, or RSW to NYC for the Emirates flight? Jetblue has so many flights to the northeast one of those airports has to have a flight. Did you look at flying to EWR or LGA instead of just JFK? What date for the ticket there? I can see if anything will get you there in time
Posted on 4/30/23 at 6:55 am to CuseTiger
We're flying out of RSW for the JFK leg. It's now our home airport. Jetblue just screwed us up by cancelling a late night flight on our last leg home. I used Amex points to Delta Skypesos and got us 1st class from JFK to RSW but we have to overnight in New York on the way back from Italy.

Ah I think I get it. Flying to/from Milan or Rome on the A380? I'm jealous, never been on an A380 before
What date is the return flight? Looks like there's a 9:30pm Laguardia to Tampa flight on Jetblue through the summer and a 9:30pm JFK to RSW but the schedule change must mean it's not operating daily

The 9:30 to RSW was cancelled on us. Tampa is over 2 hours away so we'd have to park a car there for 15 days. We wanted to return 10/1 but now we're coming back the morning of 10/2.

10/1 is a longgg way away, I'd bet there's another schedule change or two before then. Even Emirates may have a schedule change and you'd show up at JFK earlier than expected. I'd sit tight on that jetblue reservation and periodically check over the next few months to see if that original flight shows back up. If it doesn't get your refund, if it does then ask to be put back on it

Why JetBlue and not book directly from Emirates, the fith freedom jfk-mxp?
ETA: Must be JetBlue positioning flights.

Jetblue was just to get us to and from JFK for the Emirates flight from JFK-MXP.

Yeah he's on that 5th freedom flight and the jetblue and delta flights are feeders to/from JFK

I also did first class on the other Emirates 5th freedom EWR-ATH. Not as flashy as the A380 double decker though.
I usually get more paranoid with the first leg of the positioning flight. Imagine missing the Emirates 1st/business due to it.

Agreed. We're due to arrive at JFK 8 hours before the Emirates flight departs for plenty of wiggle room.

I know it's the wrong alliance, but try Lufthansa's 747-800. I do like the cameras on the A380, but the 747-800 is a work of art.
Middle Eastern Airlines (at least Etihad and Emirates in coach) don't seem all that special, weird movie selections, movie editing, food that's better than US domestic but still meh. Now, what I used to get in the Turkish Airlines lounge in Istanbul, and the food in coach is amazeballs (TK 33/TK 34). Seats aren't the greatest in Biz, but they keep you fat, happy, and intoxicated. I only get that kind of service (with lesser food) from gay LH FAs that like chubby dudes that are always trying to feed me.
I don't know what options you have out of Florida on Star Alliance, but you have the advantage of diversity in choices (unlike me in Houston, or previously ATL.)

Fifth Freedom flights are underrated. Singapore has one from Houston to Manchester (and back, obv) and economy was so deserted that nearly everyone got a couch of 3-4 seats. If my final destination is England, I'll always choose to fly into MAN in lieu of Heathrow even if I need to train it somewhere. There are a lot of discount airlines that leave from MAN to Europe, but then you don't get interline agreements that auto-transfer baggage in many cases.
For Delta aficionados, I would put Shannon up there. Everyone loves KLM, but I have literally never spent nearly an hour trying just to get to a gate without a lightning ground stop (Hello, ATL) before flying into Amsterdam. Not doing that again, especially with Brussels , Warsaw and FRA as options (Star Alliance).
