No they don't. Electric motors don't choke like gas engines. I have had Honda's and Ego's and Ego mowers never choke no matter what you give them. Sure the battery might not last as long but they will power through some shite that would choke out a Honda. There are valid criticisms of Ego mowers, but this is not one.

My electric push mower absolutely chokes out and stalls in heavy grass or leaves. But I only use it to cut and clear under the ligustrums and azaleas where the Deere won’t fit.

If I had a small yard and needed a push mower to actually cut the grass, I would go gas for that. The 40v electric one I have just wouldn’t work for that.

What I cut would laugh at that deck. The batteries/motor may not be the culprit of the choking/bogging down, but that little bitty arse deck wouldn't stand a chance, especially if the grass was wet at all.
