Ever run the numbers on cost per mile between a diesel and a gas burner?

Diesel offers no advantage in MPGs when you look at it that way.

Well, the fuel mileage is certainly better.

Total cost of ownership is a wash. The diesels will get better fuel mileage, have longer range, longer service intervals, generally last longer. Fuel costs more and service costs more. Sell price is higher, resell price is higher.

Done this many times with a whole fleet of service trucks. It's a wash.
