Get a hotel in the French Quarter. Go pick out a few places to eat and walk around the Riverwalk/Jax brewery area. Make plans to then eat at all the famous spots like Court of 2 sisters, Brennnans, etc. Get back in the hotel by 8pm and restrict your late night activities to the hotel bar past then.

If you do these things every day/night, even then I predict you’ll leave saying “Holy fricking shite!” And then never come back.

But have fun. Everyone deserves a chance to come to New Orleans. Then leave with a sour taste in your mouth. The NO from 30 years ago left town about 20 years ago.

Good luck and don’t die.

Already bad advice. LOL

And OP, August is probably the worst time to visit Nola. I would consider another month if at all possible when it’s a little cooler and more outdoor stuff is happening

Nah, he’s exaggerating.

To your question: The Garden District would be better. It’s good advice to stay out of the French Quarter after about 9 or 10 PM. Use ride share to get around. Go to the quarter in the morning and go to the Garden District and Uptown bars and restaurants at night.

August? Really? That is the absolute worst time to come to NOLA. The days will be swe;ltering and the nights will still be 80 degrees and humid. A month later would make a big difference, and two months later would be heaven.
