I will like to add but he will have tons of schools hitting him up. Kelly sounded like we was just adding depth pieces. I dnt see him coming to sit on bench.

Seems odd and not sure he'd go somewhere where he would not be a shoe in starter. But ABSOLUTELY a take. 6'7 335 listed and won leadership award last year. However, was out with injury this Spring.

I think our starting center is still Charles Turner so BIG TAKE

Looks like he’s from right outside Houston. He’d be an unreal get and make solidify our offensive line’s missing piece

Absolutely see if he wants in

Suspect he already has his destination. Did LSU recruit him last year?

We should definitely inquire. Our OL depth needs a few pieces in this next portal window.

Yeah maybe UT boosters threw him a massive bag

He'd be an upgrade for us so yes, they need to attack him. He'd be here more than 1 year as well so we'd be stupid not to try to get him.

Natural position is tackle. He was moved to center out of need.

i must've missed it, where did he announce his destination?

Absolute take if he wants to win at LSU.

How many from aTm now? At least 40 huh?

I think Kelly has probably been speaking from an expectations perspective rather than a "goals" perspective.
Over the past few months, the only way we were going to bring in guys who were more than just depth pieces was if a legit star entered the portal--because if a non-star level "solid starter" type guy entered, it would be pointless for us to go after him. For one, if he's starter-caliber, why would he come in just to compete with guys mostly just as good as him; for two, if he's starter-caliber, then what would we even accomplish by bringing him in? Basically, in order for a non-depth guy to justify us really going after him, he'd have to be a very clear upgrade over what we've currently got. So since there are (relatively) rarely OL of that caliber in the portal, he probably hadn't expected to add any guys like that.
But to that end--I really can't see BK turning down a chance to bring in a very clear upgrade. So imo that's what it comes down to: If the staff views this kid as a clear upgrade at center, then they'll almost certainly pursue him, at least on some level. And it seems that center, specifically, has been the spot where we've shown uncertainty and tried out a bunch of different options.
So if i had to guess, i'd guess we're giving this kid a ring. Would be a killer addition, especially subsequent to the upcoming season. Imagine being able to pencil in this kid in addition to Campbell and Jones for the next two seasons.
ETA: Looks like he won't be a true sophomore but rather a RS sophomore this upcoming year. I dont know what his draft prospects are, but that may change the calculus a bit. If this guy is a likely 2024 NFL draft entry--and thus a one-year rental--then that probably changes the calculus a bit. I'm not sure we'd want to disrupt the OL plan we've already got in place for a one-year player unless he is a legit star-level talent.

He really only played last year because of injury. Let me ask some kinfolk about this.

Not sure I agree. Just did some reading. He was a three-star who was pressed into starting when the starter got injured. "All-freshman" center doesn't mean much. How many other freshmen started at center in the SEC?
He was going to be a backup for the Aggies this year.

We could use experienced depth at center.

I guess he would need a waiver? Hard to know the transfer rules these days.
