Just on the EpicPass web site and kind of confused with all the options. Can someone give me the Cliff Notes version?

I've been looking into it for next season. It seems to me, your better question is to state your plans and then ask the cheapest way to do that?
Epic pass you can either get a season pass or daily passes, both bought ahead of time. They have multiple prices for the Season passes basically the only difference is the amount of days you can ski and locations you can ski. For example, the better passes have the peak days open where as the local pass has fewer resorts and the peak ski days of say Xmas to New Years are usually blocked.

It will tell you the blackout dates on the website. They are usually around hoildays the locals get off of school, i.e. around NYE, MLK, Presidents Day.

We use it every year. We don’t get the blackout dates. They list the days ahead of time so you know. Mardi Gras and Presidents’ Day was the same week but the blackout days were the Sat and Sun before President day. So we arrived on the Sunday and skied the rest of the week with no issues.
You just need to make sure you want epic pass for all the Vail resorts or the icon which is another set of resorts. They don’t cross. And you must use it or lose it. No refunds or transfers.
If you know you are going, the passes are definitely the way to go. Way cheaper than buying lift tickets later on.
