I have a customer in Wisconsin that owes my company about $3,500. Recs for a reputable, effective service is appreciated.

File a lien in their county. Probably $200 and you will get your money eventually.

Not enough facts in your question to guess whether the state where you are located would have jurisdiction over the Wisconsin debtor, so it may be safest to get a WI collection firm.

Here is one that looks good online. No personal knowledge about them, but you may want to call or send an email to see what they charge. Business collection law firm

Re filing a lien. Certain folks, like subcontractors on construction projects, are sometimes allowed by state law to file a lien against the property to secure what is owed them. The rules for that sort of thing are very specific. But you can't generally just go file a lien against someone because they owe you money on an account.

For $3500 I’d think it’s going to cost you a lot. As said I’d call the local court office and ask them about a the lien procedure.

Did you type that in a Roy D Mercer voice?

Had to do that once. Contacted a law firm recommended by a guy whose company was dying and who often was behind on bills. He recommended the company that got money out of him.

They didn't call, send letters and harass, they just sent a subpoena right away, an payment came soon after.

There are no good ones IMHO. I used to use different ones but would not recommend any of them. I once had to sue a collection agency that had collected the money but didn't pay me!!

We have been very fortunate the last couple of years and have not had to do any collections. What we do now is send a demand letter of our own and then pay an attorney to send a demand letter. You might get somewhere with that but maybe not. $3500 may be under the small claims limit in that particular county and if it is just call the clerk of court there and ask them to go over the process of filing in small claims court.
