FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The bill to allow Kentuckians to bet on college and pro sports is headed to Governor Beshear’s desk.
House Bill 551 bill will allow people to bet on events using a computer, phone or mobile device or by going to a horse track-owned facility in Kentucky.
The Bill passed 25-12 in the state Senate on Thursday.
The bill previously passed the House with a 63 to 34 vote.

That's good they passed the mobile. Mississippi really screwed up not doing mobile.

The bordering states are probably pissed right now. Indiana will take a hit on this. A lot of money is going to stay south of the Ohio River now.

Correct. No more having to drive to Indiana or Ohio. Or betting offshore. It's always been hypocritical to have horse racing and the lottery but not this here.

Good for them...
shite needs to be legalized in all 50 states

Definitely support the freedom to choose but I also really don’t care how deeply gambling now permeates basically all sports and it’s coverage.

I was pretty shocked when it passed. Stivers tried everything under the sun to try to prevent it from coming to a floor vote for years and had single-handedly held it up before.
That said, it's no coincidence they waited until Churchill bought up several venues within the state that will easily transition to gambling venues.
I'm just glad to see that revenue not walking across the river to Ohio or Indiana anymore. It's long been time we've kept that money in state.

The drawback? Many Kentuckians will be losing money. No way people will beat those gambling venues. Someone has to lose.

Kentuckians have been regularly gambling millions in other states, not just in sports betting. Folks here regularly travel to Indiana for casinos as well (Caesar's and Belterra for example) and have had no issues betting there.
Much like marijuana, prohibition on gambling here just means that money walks elsewhere.

just want the foot traffic in the casinos.
I occasionally will still go over there (Biloxi) and place a bet but not like I use to.
gas prices are cheaper over there compared to where I live so there is that at least if I don't win.

For Nevada...do they have mobile where you bet from home, or you have to be in the Sportsbook app that way??

The one good thing about sports gambling is you're not just battling the book, it's kind of the people on the other side of the line. My experience is you have a shot of winning over the long term if you can get in and out when you hit a few big plays.
The online casino world is a total cancer and I advise everyone not to get into it. You're fortunate if Kentucky doesn't allow it.

I agree with all of that
The biggest challenge I face is that I'm driving all day it's my job. Not Uber lmao. Not even close.
so when the day comes to an end and it's 5:30-6:15 ish do I really want to make a trip over to Mississippi knowing I still have to get up early the next day? I mean my location is prime but usually I'm just ready to go home at that point. There is something about going over on Friday night though. Football season especially of course, the casinos are packed the frick out. So you sit there and wait for lines to move on games you've been pondering over all week.
My biggest parlay wins have come from the Golden Nugget in Biloxi.
not the offshore account.
