Louisville Slugger Museum. Churchill Downs.

Along with the Slugger museum they have a minor league team “The Bats” with a nice baseball park.
Also check out the Waterfront Park along the river. They have a summer concert series with pretty good acts.

I've been but it was for a bachelor party/bourbon trail trip. Aside from a few restaurant recommendations I don't have much.
Stayed in an AirBNB downtown

Just went in December. Loved it.
Biscuit Belly, Churchill Downs, Hot Brown at Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger, Evan Williams Distillery, Doc Crows, 4th Street Live, little hole in the wall next to the comedy club called Expo (try the Acid Cat, one of my favorite parts of the trip), Muhammad Ali Center, Butchertown Grocery, The Morning Fork, Woodford Reserve Distillery, Buffalo Trace Distillery, Ark Encounter

The Belvedere is a fun spot - kind of a fountain park right on the river, above the interstate at the Galt House.
NE up the river (Zorn Ave exit off of I-71) there's an old water tower that can be cool to walk around.
The Belle of Louisville is a New Orleans style paddleboat you can take out on the Ohio River.
The locks are kind of cool to see - just west of downtown.
In Starlight, Indiana (go across the Sherman-Minton Bridge, itself a little bit of a sight) there is a family farm country eating place called Huber's. The drive is pretty and the food is pretty good.
The Louisville Mega Cavern is a potential spot.
If you are from Baton Rouge, you might want to drive by DuPont Manual High School. It was very clearly built in the same era as BRHS (although a bit more grand).
You can drive the U of L campus - and if you do, then you are close enough to drive Churchill. I think Churchill is cool because it's like English soccer stadia - right in the middle of normal neighborhoods (in this case, lower middle class.)
Get a do it yourself burger at WW Cousin's - been there for 40+ years, despite basically just being a privately owned Fuddrucker's.
If you want to stay in the middle of it, stay at one of the nice downtown hotels. Just be wary downtown might not be great after dark - especially as you move away from the river.
