Don't know about the country since this all happened pre-internet, social media, etc.
I watched some of it going down on TV as it was aired live at times and when those Feds were climbing all over the roof and got shot up I knew the shite was really going to hit the fan.
The Feds didn't have to try to breach that place with all those people inside. That whole place was isolated and surrounded so those people inside the compound were not going anywhere.
They could have simply waited them out in a siege tactic. They would have eventually run out of necessities and become forced to negotiate a surrender.
