Desantis and any other republican would need Trump’s base to win the GE. If someone else besides Trump is nominated, some portion of Trump’s base will stay home, and it would be a determinative number, even in the unlikely event that democrats in urban shitholes don’t stuff ballot boxes with fake mail in ballots.
