Looking for someone on here that has mechanical knowledge of the Johnson/Evinrude VRO fuel

Disable it unless you just want to buy a new engine. It was unreliable when new and only gets worse with age.

Remove it! Easy to do and peace of mind far outweighs the hassle of adding oil manually

rule #1 at my place we don’t touch anything evinrude or Johnson.

Not a damn thing wrong with an old OMC engine. The old v4 are probably the most durable outboards ever made.

It's a 95 and has been very reliabe.

Its easy to disable and remove

What i did to mine which was a 1995.
Pulled VRO off and put fuel pump.
Cost at the time was the same.
Mix oil & gas.
Cap have to put over oil line get at hardware store.
Then two electric wires put fitting over cost $4.
Ran 15 years no issues.
I had two VRO pumps.
Problem when they sit up the o ring that separates the fuel and oil dry rots. That is when I kept have over oiling problems.
