If this sets a precedent, we can get half of Baton Rouge and Nola ‘parents’ locked up. Not sure who they lock up tho, the grandma, the aunt. Definitely won’t be the dad.
Back in Trenton there was a community meeting where the Police Director was speaking. One old lady raised her hand and said directly to the director that she feared her grandson (who she was taking care of) was "going to kill someone" and asked what could be done. Sure enough the director didn't give any real help and a year later her grandson walked into a laundrymat and killed the owner.

Does this logic apply to the black community?
in my view? yes - however my view really doesn't matter by itself - others will agree and others will disagree.

It just seems like the judges (and the prosecutor) are reaching with the refusing to remove him and the harming others angles.
Maybe so. I re-read the article twice and I'll agree its not a slam dunk.

So do we then begin to round up every juvenile criminals parents and put them on trial for their inaction or accessory their children’s crimes?

Days before the shooting, a teacher allegedly saw Ethan Crumbley researching ammunition in class, and the school contacted his parents but they didn't respond, according to prosecutors. But Jennifer Crumbley did text her son, writing, "lol, I'm not mad at you, you have to learn not to get caught," according to prosecutors.
Hours before the shooting, prosecutors said a teacher saw a note on Ethan Crumbley's desk that was "a drawing of a semi-automatic handgun pointing at the words, 'The thoughts won't stop, help me.' In another section of the note was a drawing of a bullet with the following words above that bullet, 'Blood everywhere.'"
The Crumbleys were called to the school over the incident, and said they'd get their son counseling, but they did not take him home, prosecutors said.
I don't know man. It's not really apples to apples. If my kid is telling me and everybody he sees that he's gonna shoot up the school, and is then drawing pictures with all this inflammatory language and I do nothing - I'd expect to shoulder a lot of the blame.

quote:Never heard of that story with blacks, but you hear all the time of them having a rap sheet and not even an 'adult' yet. Why these parents never held responsible? Parent didn't buy a gun, but didn't do shite to stop the behavior either, and probably reinforced the behavior by their shitty parenting. You hear all the excuses they come up with when they kid gets in trouble. "They just was firing warning shots at you, day weren't really tryin to shoot you".
Of course it is. Parents are often charged if they have illegal guns around unsecured. But how many times do you hear about a case where the parents know the kid is unstable and take him to a gun shop to pick out what gun he wants for his birthday?
