I go back to it every few months and put a solid week into it. I truly love the game and then I get sad remembering it's likely dead.

I dropped off the story line about halfway through a year or so ago. Never tried online mode. What are some of the intriguing things about online mode?
I just figured it was toxic as shite like GTA.

It's certainly not as toxic as GTA, mostly because it's not as populated and the action is much more spread out.
If you enjoyed the actual world Rockstar created then RDR Online is just beautifully peaceful to trot around in; you have access to everywhere and there are plenty of tasks to do. There are several roles to level up in, some of which have at least somewhat interesting stories. And a lot of gear is rank locked, so it can be fun to slowly develop your online cowboy.
The thing that eventually kills it is Rockstar seems to have decided to give up on it so once you get to the top rank there isn't much more to achieve, so most of the appeal becomes riding around the beautiful West occasionally doing tasks.

I'm actually into this kind of gaming so I might try it out.

RDO is ok. Glitchy and you’ll run into nagging people who just follow you around and kill you nonstop.

I still get on every once in a while. The world is still amazing and I have fun in short bursts.

I impulse bought the deluxe edition. Steam had it on sale for like $30.
